MUFFIN top has been voted Australia's word of the year.

The Kath and Kim-coined term - which refers to the roll of waist fat that hangs over too-tight jeans - was named the nation's top new entry for 2006 in an online Macquarie Dictionary poll.

The home-grown expression beat overseas imports including affluenza, which describes an addiction to consumer spending, and administrivia, that mountain of paperwork and petty details that come with a job.

It also beat cyberstalking, toe cleavage, nanna nap, ubersexual and plausible deniability - where a politician denies links to illegal or unpopular activities carried out by underlings.

Oh my...I really learnt this term only in 2006. Hilarious, as I do know some muffin tops, who, surprisingly, seem to be very proud of their 'assets'! Constantly talking about how they need to lose weight, but at the same time, are stuffing their faces with food. Looks like now they have something to really be proud of!
