These days, you don't have to travel all the way to Australia to get gelato cos' you have Gelatissimo right in the heart of Orchard Road in Singapore.

But I still prefer the good old rainbow ice-cream from the uncle who drives around in his mobile stall.
There're also tonnes of wine shops sprouting up all over town where I can find all my favourite estates. No need to lug back and pay ridiculous excess baggage fees. *pleased* Looks like moving back's not going to be such a bad idea after all. One thing's for sure. This place is definitely more progressive and dynamic. Anyhow, going away for the weekend.

Little Quirks of Singapore

One of the quirky parts of Singapore...Line Dancing in public! This was taken at Far East Square, where there were separate groups of people doing line dancing in front of everyone else. And at different corners of Far East Square! This man's apparently famous. He's seen at all the public line dancing hotspots in Singapore. (Notice how he isn't really part of the group and is doing his own thing?) First thought that came to my mind...I don't want to be like him in 30 years' time! Hahaha...the other quirk which RT put quite aptly yesterday...."Singapore is very safe. There are no bombs. Only fashion time bombs, waiting to go off [referring to the general population's dress sense]." Hahaha...It feels so good to be back. Off to have dim sum brunch with AT in a bit! (Still feeling slightly under the weather.)

Not such a Great Way to Fly

Flying over Western Australia at the moment. First time I'm posting an entry while on a flight. Had a good start to the day. Breakfast with GW in the morning at South Melbourne market. Then came back to prepare for my flight. Hasn't exactly been the best flight I have so far. Was made to pay for excess baggage for the first time in my life. Now, I've got a couple of crew members on their training flight so all over the place. Imagine, passenger waiting for crew member to pass. While the aircraft is going through bad turbulence. *roll eyes* Unacceptable! But ok la....cannot zap the newbies. It's been pleasant so far apart from the drama. Getting bit high on the Riesling they're serving on board my flight. Haha...not a good idea, considering I'm still on meds. Oh well...looking forward to touching down in 4 hours.

Oh! By the way, no...I'm not on a flight with a female IFS so no pictures! Hahaha...

My A380

So exciting! In one week's time, I'll have my very own SIA A380 aircraft model. Placed an order for a piece on my flight back. And soon, I'll be going back to a 'Great Way to Fly'. No more will I have to put up with 'Quick And Nasty Typical Australian Service'. Hee hee hee...

Finally, a store opening in Melbourne city on 26 Sept. Now, I don't have to lug boxes back each time I return from Sydney. (So tak glam, having the cabin crew members all looking at me like I'm a freak!)

SMU to develop new law school

The Singapore Management University (SMU) is honoured to be given the opportunity to develop a new law school in Singapore. As Singapore's first autonomous university, SMU looks forward to extend its unique educational approach to its new School of Law.

“It is remarkable that within a short span of five years, SMU has not only built a strong name with our students but within the community at large. Our focus on delivering our unique pedagogy together with distinguished teaching and outstanding research by our faculty once again has drawn us to the fore. We are excited to have the opportunity to start a new law school. We will leverage on our existing strengths and the SMU brand of education to offer a programme that will add to the diversity of Singapore 's legal education landscape,” said Professor Howard Hunter, President of SMU.

Currently, SMU has a Law Department within its Lee Kong Chian School of Business, which offers law modules for students pursuing Business degrees. Inaugurated in July 2001, the Law Department offers a wide array of courses including Business Law; Company Law; Intellectual Property Law; Information Technology and the Law; Law and International Business; Financial Law and Regulation; Law of Confidential Information, Trade Secrets and Privacy; Life Sciences, Genetic Engineering and the Law; and a course in Ethics and Social Responsibility. With faculty members holding postgraduate degrees and doctorates from renowned universities worldwide, the SMU's Law Department is well recognised for its impressive publications record in leading law journals locally and abroad.

The SMU School of Law aims to welcome its first cohort in the Academic Year starting August 2007. SMU, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Law, the Attorney-General's Chambers and other relevant agencies will be working together on the establishment of the new law school.

This is Citizenry Journalism at its best. A recently discovered blog, called Rude Right?, now seeks to 'name and shame' rude Singaporeans who 'misbehave' in public. Not too sure if I totally agree with its aim, (or whether the bloggers are just being rude themselves), but it certainly does give STOMP a run for its money. One thing's for sure though. There're definitely people out there who can't seem to tolerate backward behaviours any longer! Haha
