yea, get away is good. train rides always brings surprises to me. no matter how careful i read the signs: time, destination, fare etc; i still feel nervous when riding train. not bcuz i'm scared of terrorist bombing... but it gives me a feeling of not knowing what (where) to expect. so sometimes i shiver in train as it moves and as all the scenes outside the window flashes before my eyes. things change so fast when u're in a train. now u see a tree, now u dont. perhaps this is what freaks me out - is my existence only a flash of the eye? now i'm here, the next thing i 'know', i'm gone. hmm, but tht cant be logically correct. according to Decartes 'i think therefore i exist', so technically i wont even 'know' when i'd be gone.
sometimes i'm a bit tired of this mundane and routined lifestyle in australia. it tends to make me feel really empty and directionless. ofcuz i be inundated with heaps and heaps of work. but sometimes i'm just slack and hope the lifestyle can push me to work harder.but neh.... its just how australia is...laid back, relaxed... why should i pace up if everyone else is taking their sweet time.
there lifestyle here gives me too much space, time and privacy to think about things tht i dont realy want to think abt.things tht a big cosmopolitan person would be too busy to think about. if some ppl say tht perth is a good place to retire, i'd protest most rigourously! bcuz it leaves the aged too much room to think about death... hmm i'm not sure if one is always comfortable thinking abt death as a past time activity or leisure, esp when one is already smelling the coffin and the soil that will be used to bury it (and him/her).
am i ungrateful of what i have got? maybe. perth has spoilt me too much with its peacefulness (is this even a word?) and changelessness. i guess i'm just missing xxxxxxx... the vibrant lifestyle, the noise, the insecurity, the crowd, the ppl, the frenships... perth is the complete opposite, in stark contrast.
sometimes i actually admire ppl (like u, tim) who're seeking to leave here for other more exciting places, be it east timor, iraq, aceh, bangkok, beijing...etc. at least they can feel their existence in places where there are continuous threats to their life. peacefulness [sic]has spoilt me to take life for granted. i start to find it hard to get out of my comfort zone. it's virtually impossible for me to take risk here. cuz life is simply too precious here. well, who cares if i die in xxxxxxx - a city with so many problems, crimes, huge population ... so living there itself is taking risk already. but precisely that provides us with a sense of living, a spirit to fight, and an instinct to survive.
good choice to leave, tim... hope u'll start another journey of self discovery in sydney, i'm sure u'll experience a lot more there than u ever had here. hmm, at least the train routes are longer and more extensive. that means u'll prolly get to spend more time in it and that allows u to ponder more abt life compared to the short rides in perth.
I don't think it's fair to say that I'll experience a lot more than I ever had here. Both places have different experiences. I just feel that I've learnt all there's to offer here, and now it's time to move onto another place where I'll grow some more. It scares me, just like how train rides scare you. But I'm willing to take that big step out into the (yet) unknown. You will too, if you tell yourself you can. Finish up what you started off with. Move on to somewhere else where you can grow. That's most important. But whever you and I will be, you'll always have a special place in my heart. :)
